I must have the world's sweetest tooth... seriously if there is a treat going I find it extremely hard to say no. If there is something indulgent and naughty open in my kitchen cupboard you can trust me when I say, it will be gone within 24hrs. It's beyond me I am a sugar fiend or one of a better word; ADDICT!

One of my sisters gave up refined sugar quite some time ago and since then I have been surprised at the quantity of items out there that contain this addictive substance... "but that's what makes everything taste soooo good" my inner voice shrieks, that may well be however sugar is extremely bad for you and linked to many health concerns: tooth decay, heart disease, diabetes, weight gain, weakened immune system, the list is endless.

So where possible I have taken an informed decision to cut-down on the white stuff and look to using alternative natural sweeteners for my treats of which I have been blown away at the many varieties available i.e. Coconut Sugar, Xylitol, Stevia, Date Sugar, Maple Syrup, Brown Rice Syrup, Honey and Barley Malt Syrup.
